Vasectomy Reversal

Our goal at Advanced Vasectomy Reversal is to provide you, the prospective vasectomy reversal client, with the information and resources you need to make an informed decision when choosing the doctor to perform your microsurgical vasectomy reversal.

Increasingly, more men are presenting to the urologist for a vasectomy reversal or to correct acquired blockages of the sperm duct system. Fortunately, microsurgery has advanced significantly in the past several years, with extremely high success rates, so that reversing a once thought of as permanent sterilization (vasectomy) is now highly possible and successful guaranteed.

Operating time for a vasovasostomy or epididymovasostomy is approximately 4 hours. A local anesthetic is usually used in conjunction with a light general anesthetic, so that our patients wake up quickly and have no immediate discomfort. Postoperative care should include an evaluation of wound healing at 1-2 weeks, and a first semen analysis at 4 weeks. Semen analyses are then obtained at 2 month intervals until the semen analysis stabilizes or pregnancy is achieved. Routine follow up semen testing and visits will provide the best success rates.
More Information

At Legacy Male Health Institute, P.A., we perform both simple and complex vasectomy reversal procedures called vasovasostomy (straight forward vas-to-vas reconnect) and the technically more demanding epididymovasostomy (epididymis-to-vas reconnect) with extremely high success rates guaranteed. Our current vasectomy reversal success rates are 98% guaranteed for return of sperm after vasovasostomy on both sides, 95% guaranteed for vasovasostomy on one side and epididymovasostomy on the other side, and 85% guaranteed for epididymovasostomy on both sides- which is only needed occasionally. We provide comprehensive advanced vasectomy reversal and related services including sperm freezing (cryopreservation) as a back-up at the time of vasectomy reversal, sperm retrieval procedures as an alternative in the rare occasion that this is the better option, care after the surgery to ensure that you achieve maximal fertility on your semen analysis, and coordination of female fertility evaluation and treatment as needed. In fact, we help screen for potential female fertility problems prior to your vasectomy reversal so as to minimize the chance of going through a procedure with little chance for pregnancy even when the vasectomy reversal results in return of sperm. If we feel that your partner's fertility is of concern, then we will recommend an appropriate vasectomy reversal alternative for a successful pregnancy.
